Wildfire Relief Efforts
The entire NBA, NBPA, WNBA and WNBPA family sends its thoughts and support to the community of Los Angeles during this challenging time. We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who have demonstrated enormous bravery. The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association are donating one million dollars for immediate relief to the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen and other organizations to support those affected by this disaster and are working with the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Sparks on ways to support longer term assistance and rebuilding efforts.
- As the people of Los Angeles and its surrounding communities begin the long recovery from the region’s devastating fires, 12 professional sports organizations – including the Clippers, Lakers and Sparks – have pledged a combined donation of more than $8 million to support victims in need, as well as those fighting the fires.
- The Los Angeles Lakers are hosting donation drives at their upcoming games at Crypto.com Arena starting Monday, Jan. 13, to support the Los Angeles community and relief efforts for the Southern California wildfires.
Fans attending Lakers games this week are encouraged to bring new, in-the-package, items to support the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s relief efforts. All contributions will assist those impacted by the recent wildfires. Collection bins will be located outside Crypto.com Arena at the Figueroa, Kobe Bryant and Star Plaza entrances. The collections will start when doors open 1.5 hours before tipoff until halftime of each matchup.
The Lakers are hosting a drive-thru donation center at the UCLA Health Training Center (2275 E Mariposa Ave., El Segundo, CA, 90245) all week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; come bring non-perishable food items and new non-food items.
- The NBA, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks, Fanatics, and all Los Angeles sports organizations are joining forces to sell merchandise, with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross and the LA Fire Department Foundation to aid those directly affected by the wildfires.
